Making the first call...
Start by speaking with your Take 5 Wisconsin local coordinator. He or she can help you with ideas and activity suggestions.
Pick-up the phone after October 1st with "Plan A" and a "Plan B" in mind. You may need to be flexible in considering alternative dates and activities. The main goal of this event is to start building strong relationships with our elected officials. The when and where are up to you.
Just a few ideas on how to start the conversation:
"Good morning, my name is ___________. I am a mom of a special needs child in your district and I am calling to invite you to take part in Take 5 Wisconsin. We would love to have you over to our house so you can see how important your support of respite care is to us."
Or...
"Hi, my name is _________. I am a mom from your district who is concerned with the state and local budgets and especially about the respite care program. Would you be interested in coming to our house to learn more about the Take 5 Wisconsin Campaign?"
Or...
